The RA-10 Argentine Multipurpose Reactor will provide irradiation services, radioisotope production, Neutron Transmutation Dopping (NTD) of silicon, and facilities for technological testing and applied research.
Radioisotope production
(Mo-99):
Production of up to 3,000 Ci/Week (6-day Ci), nearly 25% of global demand.
(Lu-177):
Production of up to 6,000 Ci/ month for targeted cancer therapies.
Production of up to 20,000 Ci/ month for the treatment of cancer.
Production of up to 8,000 Ci/month for non-destructive testing (NDT).
Services
Workstations and hot cells for the handling and processing of irradiated materials in accordance with international safety standards.
Performed via Neutron Transmutation Doping (NTD). This raw material is used in the manufacture of electronic devices, semiconductors, and high-power equipment. The initial projected capacity is 80 tonnes per year, with the possibility of expansion.
Irradiation facilities for the qualification of nuclear fuels for research reactors and power plants. A materials testing loop will enable studies of burnup accumulation and power ramps behavior.
Facilities designed for the application of this technique, which will enable the provision of services to the scientific and industrial sectors.
This facility will apply advanced neutron techniques to study the dynamics and structure of matter. It will provide research and development services in materials science, biology, and biotechnology.
