RA-1O Multipurpose Reactor

RA-1O Multipurpose Reactor

State-of-the-art National Technology for Health, Science and Industry.

Spanish version

The RA-10 Argentine Multipurpose Reactor is a strategic facility developed by the CNEA and designed to expand national capabilities in health, industry, science, and technology. Located at the Ezeiza Atomic Center, it represents one of the country’s most significant scientific and technological investments and is in its pre-operational testing phase. Its commissioning will establish a high-value-added platform aimed at strengthening domestic development and enhancing Argentina’s presence in international markets.

Thanks to its design features and its ability to operate in continuous 29.5-day cycles, this state-of-the-art reactor will ensure national self-sufficiency and position Argentina as a global supplier of radioisotopes, particularly Molybdenum-99.

Furthermore, the reactor will provide capacity for Neutron Transmutation Dopping (NTD) of silicon, a material essential for the manufacture of electronic devices and power equipment, opening new opportunities for domestic industry and its integration into international value chains.

In addition to its productive impact, the RA-10 will substantially expand research and development capabilities. It will feature facilities for nuclear fuel qualification, advanced materials testing, and applications based on neutron techniques, including the Argentine Neutron Beam Laboratory (LAHN), the only one of its kind in Latin America.

In this regard, the reactor will become a comprehensive scientific and technological center, capable of integrating basic research, applied innovation, and the production of strategic goods, thereby contributing to sustainable development and strengthening Argentina’s international standing.
