At the closure of the Insurance Forum the industry highlighted the future of the social role of insurance

The Insurance Forum 2018 has ended in San Carlos de Bariloche, a unique and first time in history event for the discussion of the insurance sector policies within the framework of the G20. During two days of work, involving more than 300 global leading companies, it was recognized the need to prioritize the institutional role of insurance through investments in the real economy in order to positively impact on societies and promote growth.

Throughout four panels that addressed different topics, the meeting aimed to analyze and evaluate the main strategies that the sector should rise to the G20 Summit in November, looking forward to reaching a consensus and designing public policies.
In that sense, Chairman of the Insurance Forum, Adrian Werthein, stressed that "the world of insurance emerges with its own identity, where today insurance is seen as a business vector to finance infrastructure and create development". He added: "The insurance industry generates its own resources that can be directed towards long-term projects”.

The most important thing is that the insurance industry has earned a role within the G20 and a role as an institutional investor, by the recognition of the value it has for the development of an economy. I never saw the interaction of regulators and industry as in this meeting. We all work on a common agenda so that it can be elevated to the leaders of the G20

said Juan Pazo, Superintendent of Insurance of the Nation

Santiago Bausili, Secretary of Finance of the Nation, participated in the closure of the Insurance Forum 2018 and stated: "there were very interesting discussions, but one in particular that stands out is the role of insurance in the promotion of resilient economies. From a broader perspective, insurance is a resilient industry”. In that sense, he added: "I cannot stop thinking that there is plenty of space for the insurance industry to expand towards new challenges”.

Given the importance of this Forum President Mauricio Macri gave the attendees a welcoming message through a recorded video, in which he explained that "it is the task of this government to generate the right and adequate conditions in order to allow insurance companies, as major long-term investors, to finance projects in the real economy, directly benefiting our country´s development by fostering genuine job creation".

On behalf of the National Government, Minister of Transport Guillermo Dietrich was present at the opening and emphasized that: "the insurance industry is one of the main institutional investors in the world and today it can be a protagonist in this process of change: through employment creation investments that will benefit our fellow citizens by generating opportunities”.
