Memory and fragments
Dialogues between the pieces of Alicia Díaz Rinaldi and Francisco Tamburini
From the convergence between fragmented memory and architectural grandeur, the art work of Alicia Díaz Rinaldi and Francisco Tamburini emerge. While Díaz Rinaldi weaves her own narrative from historic fragments and personal memories, Tamburini leaves his own mark on the majestic front of the Government House of Argentina. Despite the visible differences between their artistic endeavours, both artists share a search for identity and a fixation for reconstructing the past.
In the dialogue between the architecture of Casa Rosada and the art work of Díaz Rinaldi, fascinating connections are revealed. In the 1990s the artist explored Tamburini’s blueprints for the Government House, which inspired her to create her series “Evocations” and “The other view of the fragment”. These series invite us to go deeper into the corners of memory given that, according to the artist, “the purpose of the art piece is completed when it’s observed by someone”. This approach deepens the relation between personal reconstruction of the past and institutional monumentality, inducing us to reflect on the fragmented nature of memory and the importance of reconstructing our past in order to understand our present.
This series defies time and invites the public to a journey through space and memory. The intricate play of symmetries and asymmetries immerses us in a universe where every line, every angle, every shadow is an echo of the past intertwined with the present. It is a harmonious dance between order and chaos, where the artist emerges as a conductor guiding us with artfulness through this labyrinth of forms and meanings.
In this way, the series invites us to reflect on the nature of art itself: its capacity to transcend, reinterpret and provide new life to what has already passed. It is a tribute to human creativity and the eternal search for meaning in an ever changing world.
