The government received the commander of United States Southern Command
The meeting at Casa Rosada aimed to promote strategic relations in defense and reinforce military collaboration, within the framework of strengthening bilateral ties between both nations.
The Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Diana Mondino, the Minister of Defense, Luis Petri, the head of the AFI, Silvestre Sívori, and the Secretary of National Strategy, Jorge Antelo, hosted at Casa Rosada the US Army General Laura Richardson, commander of the Southern Command (SOUTHCOM). The United States ambassador to Argentina, Marc Stanley, also participated in the meeting.
The meeting had the objective of promoting strategic relations in defense matters and strengthening military collaboration in pursuit of regional security and shared interests between both nations, within the framework of strengthening bilateral ties promoted by President Javier Milei. One of the recent actions of the Argentine government to strengthen the forces was the signing of a letter of intent with Denmark for the purchase of Danish F-16 combat aircraft.
Richardson's three-day stay in the country includes a visit to the city of Ushuaia, in the province of Tierra del Fuego, and participation in a ceremony in Buenos Aires for the transfer to the Argentine Air Force of a transport plane Hercules C-130H, valued at approximately 30 million dollars, and which is part of a security assistance donation funded by the United States.
In February, the Chief of Staff and the head of the Federal Agency of Intelligence (AFI) had been received in Florida by the Chief of Staff of the Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), Major General Scott A. Jackson. During the meeting, regional security issues were discussed.
