Bec.ar

BEC.AR is a scholarship Programme for overseas training of Argentine professionals in the fields of science, technology and productive innovation that bear a strategic relevance for the country's sustainable development.

General Objective

The objective of the BEC.AR Programme is to contribute to the scientific and technological development in Argentina.

To do so, the Modernization Minister has decided to support the overseas training of Argentine professionals related to science, technology and productive innovation.

The BEC.AR Programme offers four types of scholarships:

  • Master's degree Programmes: Formal specialization programme through Master's degree Programmes lasting approximately 1 to 2 years.
     
  • Specialization Courses: An intensive programme that lasts up to 4 months, focused on issues related to innovation, science and technology deemed a priority for the country.
     
  • Support for Short Stays of Science, Technology and Innovation (Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación, CTI) Companies and Institutions: Technical visits to companies, research centres or laboratories, among other entities, lasting up to nine (9) months, so that professionals and technicians can learn and/or develop new skills or techniques that have an impact on the institution they belong to.
     
  • Short Research Stays for Ph.D candidates: Short stays that will last up to 9 months for overseas training as part of a Ph.D course started in Argentina on issues related to innovation, science and technology deemed a priority for the country.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Full tuition for the training.
  • One-time travel allowances for the beneficiary with return tickets to and from the destination, at the beginning and at the end of the training.
  • Personal maintenance allowances for the total duration of the training.
  • Health insurance.

The Programme's Target Group

All professionals from and/or residing in Argentina that are university graduates from courses lasting not less than four years, working in fields related to Science, Technology and Productive Innovation as a priority development for the country and that agree to their work reintegration in the country are considered eligible to participate in the scholarships.
Priority areas and courses of the BEC.AR Programme are aligned with the National Plan for Science, Technology and Productive Innovation: Argentina Innovadora 2020, particularly with the Strategic Socio-Productive Cores (Núcleos Socio-Productivos Estratégicos, NSPE) contained therein, which is the tool by which the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation sets the guidelines for science, technology and innovation policies for the country for the coming years.

General Selection Criteria

Beneficiaries will be chosen according to the following criteria:

  • Degree of relevance between the area of professional responsibility of the applicant and the priority fields of study and the Strategic Socio-Productive Cores (NSPE).
  • Language level according to the country of destination and the host institution.
  • Academic merit.
  • Work experience. Agreement to return to the country. Priority will be given to those who agree to live in the provinces.
  • Agreement to be reintegrated into public or private institutions related to science, technology and productive innovation.

Further, the Evaluation Committee will base its selection on an equal geographic and gender distribution.
